Regulatory Information

The statutory provisions for the use of food colourings and generally on food
additives are laid down in Annex II of Regulation (EC) No 1333/2008 and
on flavourings and certain food ingredients with flavouring properties in the
Regulation (EC) No 1334/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council

of the Member States relating to the labelling, presentation and advertising
of foodstuffs. This Directive will be repealed as from 13 December 2014 by

The purity criteria of colour additives and all other additives are regulated by
COMMISSION REGULATION (EU) No 231/2012 of 9 March 2012 laying down
specifications for food additives listed in Annexes II and III to Regulation (EC)
No 1333/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council.
